Assassin's Creed Revelations Review Empty Assassin's Creed Revelations Review

Post  Canis Lupo 07 Wed Dec 07, 2011 11:09 pm

Alright so I was asked to complete this. Revelations was rumored to be the last game in the Assassin's Creed series. I beg to differ. But Ill get to that.
Following my last Assassin's Creed review I state again that without playing the first games this is pointless to play if you want to follow the storyline. This game did give me some things that were promised. It completed the story of Altair, and Ezio Auditore which the series is based around a lot, and it gives the backstory to Desmond who is the character using the Animus computer program. They tied the stories together so neatly. It was pretty awesome to see how they all linked. It all makes sense now.
The gameplay is much the same as Brotherhood. You play in Constantinople this time, an absolutely huge city with a waterway separating one of its districts. Gameplay was smooth and fluent, which made climbing all the more easier. The addition of the Hookblade makes climbing walls and towers almost effortless and adds a nice addition to the fighting. There were also quite a lot less collectibles in this game. Now I did have a guide to help me through the game, so it made it a lot easier. But anyone who played Brotherhood could easily get whats needed to show all the collectibles on the map. They kept the city rebuilding mini campaign. You buy rights to blacksmiths, tailors, bookshops, landmarks, banks, and faction buildings. Doing this gives you revenue to withdraw from the banks to buy new weapons and teasure maps and such.
The multiplayer is much more advanced as well. There are a ton of unlockable items within. Each character you can play as have a ton of changeable clothing and weapons. You have a bunch of similar abilities to find and avoid enemies as Brotherhood gave you with a few new ones that are quite fun. There are several new maps and new game types like corruption (Much like Halo Reach's Infection) and Chest Capture. All of which are fun to play. And there is also a chance to prestige in levels much like Call of Duty. Not sure what this helps accomplish but it is required for some unlockable items.
All in all, I think Ubisoft did an amazing job on the game. It was well worth reserving and buying, and I recommend this game. Unfortunately, I think there is another game coming down the pike. They have yet to finish Desmond's story and whether or not he "saves the world from the Templars". I look forward to what Ubisoft does to complete the saga. Until then, stick strong to the creed Assassini.

Honestly, i think Ubisoft is one of the best game developers out there, simply because they try to release their games with as few bugs as they can. The epic story is always a great bonus. Just look at Assassin's Creed, and Splinter Cell.
The only game from them that I didn't like was Heroes of Might and Magic 5, and that was only because they completely changed the game mechanics.
(When the franchise was still run by 3DO. Heroes 3 FTW.)
